F-Away Cu is a concentrated and very effective formulation of ammonium phosphite in combination with copper, suitable for all crops, both for foliar and soil application. Copper is an essential micronutrient necessary for the normal growth and development of plants. It is involved in chlorophyll production, protein synthesis, respiration, carbohydrate metabolism, nitrogen and iron utilisation, lignification and the strengthening of cell membranes.
In F-Away Cu, phosphorus is present as a phosphite ion. This means that it has one less oxygen molecule than phosphate, which gives it a higher degree of solubility and mobility. This property, allows phosphite to be quickly absorbed and taken up by the cell membranes of leaves and roots. Once F-Away has entered the cells, it is easily transported into the xylem and phloem (systemic transport). The nutrients in F-Away Cu improve the physical condition of plants and make them more resistant to stressful environmental conditions and in particular to fungal infections.
F-Away Cu contains phosphorus in the form of phosphite and thus acts as a promoter of phytoalexins, a group of chemically broad-spectrum antimicrobial compounds synthesised by plants in response to pathogen attack and also to abiotic stress. The production of phytoalexins is also triggered by copper, which is contained in F-away Cu and has a fungicide-like effect.
